  • DIRECTIONS

    1. Using pencil, trace box lid onto posterboard. Using craft scissors, cut out traced lid.

    2. Trace posterboard lid onto wrong side of lt. peach fabric and gold lace, 3/4" larger than lid. Using craft glue, glue quilt batting to posterboard. Using fabric scissors, trim batting flush to posterboard's edge, slightly beveling quilt batting inward. Center and snugly wrap fabric and lace to back of posterboard. Trim all bulk and secure fabric and lace to posterboard with glue.

    3. Using fabric scissors, cut lt. pine satin ribbon in one 21" length. Using thin layer of craft glue, snugly attach ribbon to bottom edge of box. Overlap ribbon at center back and glue in place.

    4. Cut peach floral print sheer ribbon into one 21" length. Snugly wrap ribbon around top of box lid. Glue ribbon to lid at back center only so that glue will not show through ribbon. Wrap upper edge of ribbon over top of box and secure in place with glue.

    5. Flute while gluing lt. pine satin ribbon to inside edge of padded box lid. Glue padded lid to box top, making certain peach floral print sheer ribbon is tucked down and lt. pine satin flutes are pointed up. Refer to fluting instructions at bottom of page.

    6. Cut peach moiré taffeta ribbon in three 6" lengths. Using hand-sewing needle and coordinating thread, stitch each ribbon to form a squared-off petal. Glue petals on center of padded lid. Refer to diagram at bottom of page for Squared off Petals.

    7. Cut peach floral print sheer ribbon into three 8" lengths. Stitch each ribbon to form a squared-off petal. Tightly gather and secure thread. Glue petals on top of peach taffeta petals.

    8. Cut peach moire taffeta ribbon and peach floral print sheer ribbon each into three 6" lengths. Using straight pins, layer and pin one sheer ribbon over one solid ribbon. Repeat process for remaining ribbons.

    9. Fold one set of layered ribbons in half to mark center. Fold one cut edge down 1/4". Fold opposite edge over 1/4" past center mark. Fold the folded down edge over to meet center mark as shown in Diagram A. Pin to hold.

Gather-stitch as shown in Diagram B.

Tightly gather to form flower and secure thread as shown in Diagram C.

    10. Repeat process for remaining two layered ribbons. Glue flowers, with points facing upward, on top center of taffeta/sheer petals.

    11. Cut lt. pine wire-edge ribbon into two 7" lengths. Make a gathered leaf pulling gathers so that ribbon measures 1".

    12. Repeat process for remaining ribbon. Glue leaves underneath top right side of peach petals.

13.Hold ivory and pastel green embroidery ribbons together as one and form a stacked bow that is 3 1/2" - wide with 7" tails.

    14. Knot ends of ribbon tails. Glue stacked bow in between left side of sheer and taffeta petals.

    Fluting

Attach one ribbon end to fabric. Fold down diagonally and glue. Fold up and down diagonally again and glue. Repeat for entire area to be fluted. Fluting should extend 1/4" past edge to be fluted.

    Squared-Off Petal

    1. Run a gathering-stitch along three sides of ribbon. The length of the gathered ribbon needs to be greater than the width of ribbon. Pull thread to gather and secure.

    2. Squared-Off Petal.

    Stacked Bow

    1. Fold ribbon back and forth as desired. Gather-stitch down center of stacked bow. Tightly gather and secure thread.
